It’s very rare that you don’t see these familiar faces at a game.

For the past three years, while we have been rebuilding our club, they have been right there with us. Cheering from the sidelines, helping as ball boys and ball girls, lending a hand in the canteen or simply being there to stir the players up.

They are some of our biggest fans and a huge part of what makes our club what it is.

The next generation of Waratah Tigers Seniors is already here, and we couldn’t be prouder.

So on Sunday, remember who you are doing it for.

150 FIRST GRADE GAMES FOR KOSE LELEI 😮‍💨

Back in 2004, at the ripe old age of just 15, Kose Lelei pulled on the Waratahs jersey for the first time and made his First Grade debut.

What followed has been one special football journey.

In 2005, Kose was contracted to the Canberra Raiders, playing SG Ball and winning the competition that year before making his Jersey Flegg debut, back when it was the Under 21s competition.

In 2008, Kose returned home to Griffith and helped the Waratahs to a Grand Final win over Yenda.

The following year we faced Yenda again, this time going down in the Grand Final.

In 2010, Kose headed back to Sydney with the Bulldogs, where he was part of a NSW Cup championship-winning side. He then went on to spend time with the Sharks in 2011, returned to the Bulldogs in 2012 and joined the Dragons in 2013.

Then in 2014, Kose came home again.

For the next six years, he took on the role of captain-coach and helped lead the club through some pretty special years.

Five Grand Final appearances. Three premierships. One Grand Final cancelled because of COVID, but we were there ready to play.

Kose has given an incredible amount to the Waratah Tigers, both on and off the field. He has played alongside generations of players, helped build teams, shared plenty of wins and losses, and played a massive role in shaping the club we have today.

After spending the last two years playing in the Ipswich competition, Kose returned to the Tigers this year.

And fittingly, his first game of the year was against Yanco.

Now, 22 years after making his First Grade debut as a 15 year old kid, Kose has reached 150 First Grade games for the Waratah Tigers.

150 games, what an achievement.

Congratulations Kose.

50 FIRST GRADE GAMES | ULU AKOLO

This weekend Ulu will play his 50th game for the Waratah Tigers.

Ulu joined us from Tonga in 2024 and brought the heat to Griffith soil!

Since arriving, Ulu has achieved so much within Group 20 and has played a huge part in our rebuild.

His speed, powerful kicking game and reliability on the field are just some of the things that make Ulu the player he is.

Behind the footy is a sacrifice that doesn’t go unnoticed. Being away from your family and home to chase your football dreams takes plenty of strength, and we’re thankful for everything you’ve given to this club.

Thanks for wearing the Waratahs jersey with pride, for always showing up and for giving it your all, even on the tough days.

Sina jumped on a plane, leaving behind his family in Tonga, and chased his Australian dream of playing football.

Sina is an absolute machine, with a shoulder made of steel. He is quick, smart on the field and incredibly loyal to his teammates.

Sina has been lucky enough to build a life here in Griffith and welcomed his baby boy earlier this year.

His character makes him an even better player, and we know that every time Sina steps onto the field, he is doing it for his family back home who have been cheering him on since day one.

Thank you, Sina, for your sacrifice, your loyalty and everything you give to our club.

Thank you for trusting us and for helping build our club back up. We are so grateful to have you in our Waratahs family.

You have an incredible future ahead of you, Sina, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
