Scouts WA vs Scouts Queensland

Well, Scouts Queensland… looks like we need to have a little chat. 👀

The 2026 AFL Grand Final is officially Western Australia vs Queensland, with the Fremantle Dockers taking on the Brisbane Lions this Saturday! 🏆

We’re all about friendship and teamwork in Scouting, but for a few hours on Saturday, we might have to put that aside. 😄

WA is backing the purple. 💜⚓

Good luck, Queensland. You’ll need it. 😉

And when Freo gets the win, we promise not to mention it too often at Way Out West Moot: 23rd Australian Rover Scout Moot… probably. 😉

We would love to hear if any Golden Grove Scout Group Scouts / Leaders attended this event, way back in 1988/1989.

We've not seen anything in the photos we have scanned from the hall. But that doesn't mean we didn't have members there.

🎸 A little piece of Woodhouse history...

Following the sad news of Angry Anderson's passing, we've been reminiscing about the 1989 Australian Jamboree, when Angry took to the stage right here at Woodhouse.

We dug this incredible photo out of the archives, showing just some of the thousands of Scouts who descended on Woodhouse for the event.

Were you there? Do you remember Angry's performance? We'd love to hear your memories, and if anyone has photos from the event, we'd love to see them.

Rest in peace, Angry. ❤️

If anyone knows anyone who lives within the City of Tea Tree Gully area who is worth nominating for this aware, details below.

Do you know someone who deserves to be recognised as our Outstanding Citizen of the Year?

The person who always puts their hand up to help.
Who gives their time without expecting anything in return.
Who turns up, gets involved and makes their community a little better simply by being part of it.

Maybe it’s a volunteer at a local community group, sport club, school or church. Or maybe it’s someone who has achieved something outstanding in sport and inspired others along the way.

Help us recognise someone who deserves to be celebrated. Find out more and nominate them before 30 October 2026: https://cttg.au/5X

One hundred years ago, Brenton Whittenbury’s great-grandfather made an epic road trip from Adelaide to Darwin and back.

In honour of this achievement, Scouts SA Life Member, Brenton, along with his Scouting friends, decided to recreate the adventure. Even better, their journey supported the Royal Flying Doctor Service and raised almost $30,000 for the cause.

Brenton has kindly shared his experience with us. Read about the entire adventure by clicking the link below.

We are proud of Brenton and everyone involved. This act of generosity highlights the positive impact Scouts can have on so many lives.

Scouts build teamwork.

Scouting encourages youth to work together to reach their goals. Scouts build teamwork whether by building something amazing, supporting each other in group activities, or being there for a fellow Scout who needs help.

When Scouts work together, anything is possible.

Woodhouse Adventure Park has been owned by Scouts SA since 1957. It was 'offically' opened by Lady Olave Baden Powell in November 1957 (Her husband Robert Baden Powell was the person who started scouting in 1907).

Since then, thousands of people have stayed at Woodhouse Adventure Park, creating many memories over this time.

Have you ever been to Woodhouse Adventure Park?

What are some of your memories, if you have visited?

We've heard some pretty great Woodhouse stories over the years...

From couples coming along for a wedding tour who still have memories of Scout camps, to retirees who remember Jamboree in the ’70s.

We’ve met teachers who were married at Old Woodhouse Manor, students who tackled the Challenge Hill creek crossing (and WON!), families who made Woodhouse their kids’ very first camping trip, and plenty of you who joined us around the campfire for Flameboree.

For generations of South Australians, there’s a Woodhouse story in there somewhere.

What’s your favourite Woodhouse memory?

Bonus points if you’ve got the photos to prove it! 📸👇

Well done to the 3 Cubs from our group who represented our group on the weekend at this event.

Over the weekend, Scouts SA and the Cub Scouts section held the Branch Pinewood Derby Final. It was an incredible day, filled with thrilling races, non-stop fun and plenty of memorable moments.

Click the link below to learn more about the Branch Pinewood Derby Final, including photos from the day, the winning racers and much more.

The Final was the culmination of many months of work, and it was fantastic to see everything come together for such a successful finale.

A massive thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible. No matter how big or small your role, it could not have happened without you.
