As a mobility and flexibility coach, It’s rarely the movement’s fault. It’s that you never asked the question underneath it.
If you comment “routine” I will let you know how to overcome the stop start and failing to stick with the routine long term.

It’s rarely the movement’s fault. It’s that you never asked the question underneath it, why this movement, for me, right now?
Is it the romantic idea of it? The popularity? Or does it actually serve a function in my body?
When someone comes to me wanting the handstand, the first thing I want to know isn’t their training history. It’s their why. Where does this skill transfer into their life? Is it reducing stress or adding to it? Is it solving a problem they actually have?
Apply that filter to everything, mobility, strength, performance, and two things happen. You stop chasing movements that were never yours to chase, and the ones you keep actually get you somewhere.
A movement should serve a purpose. If it doesn’t, it’s just a short dopamine hit.
Almost every lower back and knee case I have worked through traces back to the hips.
Here is why. Most of us sit to eat, sit to drive, sit at a desk, then sit again to relax. Hours a day with the hip stuck in the same flexed position. That position shortens the muscles at the front of the hip and quietly switches off the glutes on the side and back. When the glutes go quiet, the lower back takes on a job it was never built for, and the knee loses the muscle that was supposed to keep it tracking straight.
That is abduction and adduction. Taking the leg out to the side, and controlling it back in. Nobody trains them on purpose, but they are the muscles holding your knee in line and your pelvis level on every step, every squat, every sprint.
Train them properly and here is what changes.
Your knee stops caving in. Your lower back stops covering for a hip that has gone to sleep.
On the field, you get sharper change of direction and a hip that can actually hold a wide stance, the same strength and range that eventually builds toward a side split, if that is ever a goal of yours.
Off the field, those same hips are what keep you level when you walk, steady when you stand, and out of a clinic for lower back pain or knee pain in the first place.
If you have been chasing lower back pain or knee pain for years and nothing has stuck, look at your hip mobility before you look anywhere else. That is usually where the real problem was hiding the whole time.
Save this if hip pain, lower back pain or knee pain is something you deal with. Comment which one you are experiencing.
