What a season it’s been for the Frothy Flyers. We’re so grateful to every single player, supporter, family member and friend who’s been part of the journey this year.

This season has been about so much more than cricket – it’s been about learning, growing together, building new friendships and sharing plenty of laughs along the way. The effort, commitment and spirit from everyone involved has made it such a special one.

The Frothy Flyers put on a batting masterclass, racking up a massive 176/3 off their 20 overs and cruising to victory after skittling the Central Lane Strikettes for just 77/8.

The Flyers were clinical from the outset with Quade C**k leading the way. His composed 52 off 29 balls* (3 fours) was supported brilliantly by:

With five players striking at over 115, the Flyers were relentless. No bowler was spared, and the 176 on the board looked formidable.

Chris Cain stood tall with 1/19 (4) at just 4.75 an over.

Travis Manwaring was economical again, finishing on 0/10 (2).

Matt Downes picked up a wicket and returned figures of 1/18 (2).

🧨 Central Lane Strikettes Innings

In reply, the Strikettes couldn’t build any momentum. Wickets tumbled regularly, with only Chris Cain (16 off 7) and Jon Donald (20 off 21) crossing double digits.

🧹 Flyers Bowlers Clean Up

Quade C**k wasn’t done. The all-rounder added to his heroics with the bat, snaring 3 wickets for just 11 runs off 4 overs, including a maiden – sealing him Player of the Match honours.

Mixed Game 2 – 27/07/2025 – Central Lane Strikettes vs Frothy Flyers
Result: Central Lane Strikettes won by 14 runs

In a much-anticipated clash between two top mixed sides, the Strikettes put in a clinical performance with both bat and ball to edge out the Frothy Flyers by 14 runs.

Batting first, Central Lane Strikettes were anchored by a breathtaking knock from Chris Cain, who shook off his recent long-form struggles and returned to his dominant self with a whirlwind 68 off just 19 balls – including 7 sixes and 5 boundaries. His innings, filled with brute power and clean striking, set the tone for the innings. Support came from Jon Donald, who played steady, calculated, and ultimately finishing the innings with an unbeaten 51 off 27 balls, steering his side to a formidable total of 164/5. Contributions from Matt Downes (22) and Milton Peters (3)* helped boost the score at the death.

In response, the Frothy Flyers stumbled early with both of their usually dependable openers – Quade C**k (12) and Samantha Chynoweth (15) – dismissed cheaply. But the Flyers were not done. Hamish Tims was sublime in his shot-making, smashing his way to an unbeaten 50 off 22 balls with 4 sixes, while Shaynaé Pearson showed great temperament to craft 30 from 26, holding the chase together.

Further down the order, Melissa Kalbitz (15) and Alysa Bachmann (20)* kept the Flyers in the hunt, but the mounting required rate proved too much.

The Strikettes' bowlers held their nerve. Chris Cain (4-0-16-1) starred again, and Matt Downes (4-0-16-2) delivered with key breakthroughs. Milton Peters, Stevi Cameron, Lisa West, and Jackie Neary each chipped in with tight overs to restrict momentum.

With the ball, the Flyers had standout moments too — Samantha Chynoweth (2 wickets) provided crucial breakthroughs, while Quade C**k was exceptional, claiming 2 wickets and bowling a rare and valuable maiden over.

Despite a strong fightback with the bat, the Flyers closed their innings on 150/4, just 14 runs shy of the target.

🎤A few words from the Captain 🎤

A bloody ripper effort today Flyers! We stuck to our game plan, backed each other up, kept the talk encouraging and overall played smart cricket. Everyone contributed, whether with the bat, ball, or high energy fielding. That’s what made us strong. And we got the job done 🏏💥

Bowling
Indi came through with a maiden and a wicket, keeping the pressure high early on. Sam was super economical keeping pressure on the batters. Fi and Stevi bowled some crucial overs. Mel and Paap also contributed with timely wickets. Jess, you stayed composed through a rough patch, however your fielding was outstanding and you made Allsorts work for every run. Strong bowling and fielding effort all round!

Batting
Sam led with a solid 46 runs and Paap supported well with 24. Mel’s quick 21 off 15 and Fi’s 12 added crucial runs. An unlucky day with the bat for Jess and Indi, but you both contributed significantly during our bowling innings, so heads up. In the end, we posted enough to defend, taking the win with some brilliant bowling and fielding.
