A HUGE congratulations to our friends at T’Keilor on smashing the Australian Flyball Record! What an achievement on the lead in to their Flyball Nationals 2026 💙💛

A new Australian Flyball Record: 15.858

We're still a little stunned to be writing this one.

At the On the Fly competition on Sunday 6 September, T-Keilor Gold ran a 15.858 to set a new Australian Flyball Record.

Before anything else, we want to acknowledge Norwest Flyball Club. Since 2007, every time the Australian record has been broken, it’s been Norwest breaking it. For 19 years the only team fast enough to beat them was themselves, and every new record raised the bar for the rest of us. Their times have been the benchmark that every team in this country has measured itself against. We have enormous respect for the dogs, handlers and club behind it. We're also well aware that records are borrowed, not owned, and knowing Norwest, we don't expect to be holding this one quietly for long.

To the Victorian teams, thank you. You are the teams we line up against weekend after weekend, and you are the reason we've had to keep getting faster. Every close heat, every time one of you beat us to the line, sent us back to training with something to work on. A record like this doesn't come out of nowhere. It comes from years of racing against clubs that never let us get comfortable. The Victorian flyball scene has pushed each other along for a long time now, and this run is as much a product of that as it is of anything we did on our own. We couldn't have asked for better teams to share a ring with.

Thank you to the organisers, judges and volunteers at On the Fly for putting on a great event, and for running a competition where a time like this was possible.

A huge thank you to everyone at T-Keilor. Records don't happen on race day, they happen on the cold Wednesday nights at training, in the box training sessions that go nowhere for months, and through the people who turn up week after week, helping in any and every way possible. And we can't forget KODTC, the club behind T-Keilor. Their support for the flyball group has never wavered, and everything T-Keilor has built sits on the foundation they provide. This achievement belongs to the whole club.

And of course, to the dogs. They have absolutely no idea what they've done, and that's exactly how it should be.

Next Up: Frankston Storm

Frankston Storm Flyball Team are rolling in with 12 Nats under their belt and absolutely no intention of making this look like their first rodeo.

They first hit Nationals in 2003, have collected 16 podium finishes, and have a fastest nats time of 18.020.

This year? One team. 211km of travel. And apparently they still haven’t had enough.
