FLUFFY FILS ARE AT IT AGAIN!

Our senior mixed team, Fluffy Fils, took the court for their second game in the Casey Basketball competition this week.

For a team that was put together for friendship, fun and a little bit of exercise, they are having a smashing start to the season.

Another awesome win this week, but even better than the scoreboard was seeing the laughs, the fun and the friendships out on court.

Basketball doesn’t have to stop when the kids grow up. There is still a place to play, stay active, catch up with friends, make new ones and just enjoy being part of a team.

Two games in and Fluffy Fils are showing exactly what community basketball can be.

PENSIONERS IN THE PAINT TOOK THE COURT LAST NIGHT

Did they win?

Let’s just not go there 😂

But did they have a great time? Absolutely.

What was even better was looking around the stadium and seeing just how many people had come along to support them. Wives, partners, kids, family members, friends and members of our Krocs community were all there, cheering them on and enjoying the night together.

Even the opposition commented that they had never seen so many people in the stands for a grading, late-night senior men’s game, despite having played in the competition for several years.

And that, for us, is pretty special.

The cheering, the laughs, the conversations in the stands, the friendships being formed and the genuine sense of people belonging to something is exactly what Krocs is about. It is exactly what we stand for and what we strive for as a club.

Last night was community sport exactly as we believe it should be.

And judging by the noise coming our supporters (see our story) Pensioners in the Paint certainly had plenty of support behind them.

❤️🤍 SUPPORT BILLIE DISS & HER FAMILY 🤍❤️

A message from our President, Leigh Gage

For me, football clubs have always been about people first and football second. We are a community, a family, and we stand together when one of our own needs us most.

Right now, one of our beautiful Under 16 Girls, Billie Diss, needs not only the support of the Karingal Bulls community, but the support of the entire FDJFL family.

Billie has recently been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) and faces a long and challenging two-and-a-half-year treatment journey ahead.

During this difficult time, we want to do everything we can to support Billie and her family and help ease some of the financial pressure, allowing them to focus on what matters most — being together and supporting Billie through her treatment.

Just one week before her diagnosis, Billie was awarded our Most Determined Player for the Under 16 Girls.

There couldn’t be a more fitting recognition.

We know that same determination, courage and fighting spirit will carry Billie through the challenge ahead. 💪❤️

As a football club, we are so much more than teammates. We are a family.

So we’re asking our Karingal Bulls community, the FDJFL family, friends, families and anyone who is able to help — please dig deep and show Billie and her family that they are not alone.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, can make a difference and help support the family throughout Billie’s treatment journey.

❤️ LET’S GET BEHIND BILLIE.
🤍 LET’S STAND BESIDE HER FAMILY.
❤️ LET’S SHOW THEM THE STRENGTH OF OUR FOOTBALL COMMUNITY.

Go Billie! We’re all behind you. 💪❤️🤍

Yesterday we promised you something new. Something that could change the conversation around community sport.
Today, we’re putting that promise into action.

SOMETIMES THE GOOD STUFF GETS LOST.

During the week before finals, we came across two coaches from other clubs who made us stop and think.

These were genuine community basketball teams. Not teams full of experienced rep players chasing the next pathway. Just kids out there giving basketball a go.

And these coaches GOT it.

They supported every player. They were great with the parents on their bench. They celebrated good basketball from both teams. They encouraged developing players and genuinely congratulated opposition coaches on how far their teams had come.

Nothing extraordinary happened.

It was simply community sport done right.

And it made us wonder, why don't we hear more about THIS?

We spend so much time talking about what's going wrong in community sport. Sometimes we need to.

But every week there are coaches, referees, players, parents, team managers and volunteers quietly creating the kind of community sport we actually want.

A place to play. To learn. To make friends. To have fun. To belong.

You don't have to be chasing representative sport or the next level for your sport to matter.

Community sport matters too.

Let's shape the culture of community sport around what we recognise, encourage and celebrate, not the behaviour that has no place in sport

So we're doing something about it.

KOURT DOING IT RIGHT.

From this season, when we catch someone doing community sport right, we're going to call it out.

It might be an opposition coach who makes every player feel valued. A referee who takes a little extra time with a nervous child. A player who shows incredible sportsmanship. A parent creating a positive sideline. A team manager or volunteer doing something nobody else notices.

They don't have to be a Kroc.

When we see it, we'll recognise it, share it and, wherever possible, let their club or association know too.

Because this isn't about one club.

It's about recognising the people across community sport who are getting it right and giving the GOOD the attention it deserves.

Maybe someone else sees it and does the same.

Maybe the person being recognised keeps doing it.

Maybe that's how culture starts to shift.

Let's get louder about the good.

KOURT DOING IT RIGHT.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP DESERVES A SHOUT OUT!

We’ve got something new coming tomorrow.

It’s not a new team.
It’s not a new competition to play in
It’s not even really about us.

It’s about community sport. It’s about changing the conversation.

And we’re pretty excited about it!

Something new begins tomorrow.

We filled every one of our returning teams from last season. Then, due to demand, we created additional teams and filled those too.

So we’ve added even more, and we’re now down to just 7 spots across the entire club!

U8 MIXED • 2 spots (boys)
• Friday night games
• Sunday morning training
• Can’t make Sunday training? That’s okay. We have programs and other options to help your child build their skills so they can still play.

U16 BOYS • 3 spots
• Non-training team
• Rep players welcome
• We still have rep points available, so reach out and see if we can make it work.

U18/U21 GIRLS • 2 spots in one of our two teams
• Monday night games at Chelsea
• Non-training team

U14 GIRLS • 1 high-level player
• No rep points
• Wednesday night games at Chelsea
• May have occasional team training sessions, but no set weekly training

Weeknight basketball at Chelsea Basketball - CADBA means you can play during the week and keep your weekends to yourself.

Once these spots are gone, we’re full!

Introducing Midlife Crisis!

Meet one of our Kananook Krocs senior men’s teams, competing in the Frankston Basketball - FDBA competition this season.

These guys had a fantastic game last night, was a huge step up from last week. It was so good to watch them out on the court playing well, supporting each other and, most importantly, genuinely enjoying their basketball.

Senior basketball is about so much more than the final score.

It’s about physical health, getting out on the court, running, moving and staying active. It’s about mental health, having a laugh, switching off from everything else for a while and doing something you enjoy.

And it’s about community connection, being part of a team, making new friendships and having somewhere you belong.

Creating opportunities for people to connect, belong and enjoy being part of basketball is one of the values that drives what we do at Kananook Krocs Basketball Club Inc. . It’s a value we continually strive to live up to, and it was fantastic to see it playing out on the court last night.

We’re so excited to have Midlife Crisis representing the Krocs in the FDBA comp this season and can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings.

Welcome to the Krocs, Midlife Crisis!
