🍟FRENCH FRY SQUAD🍟

Now unveiling... our 15-player squad representing UniMelb and UMBC at the 2026 edition of the French Fry Classic, as well as their road to gold.

Led by coach Dylan Giles, this year's squad features veterans from previous French Fry Classics, returners from Hume Cup and Big-ish Blue, as well as rookies donning uni blue for the first time.

They kick-off the weekend facing Swanston St rivals RMIT, followed by Monash and La Trobe, with the madness kicking off at 12 pm on Saturday.

Congratulations and good luck to our squad 💪

🏆 UMBC Women's White Team - 2026 Women's Division 1 Premiers 🏆

Congrats to our Women's White team for their 1-run victory over the Women's Blue team, in the Women's Division 1 Grand Final.

A truly special outcome to celebrate our 30 years of women's baseball at the club. Great job to the players for making the season a very suspenseful one!

A big thank you to Coach Abbey and Coach Paula and Kat for the leadership this season. And to our families and supporters for their cheers, hands on deck and sirens, we wouldn't be able to do it without you.

That's a wrap on the 2026 MWBL winter season, it's been a big one!

See you at Preso 😉

UNI WOMEN, TAKE A BOW

Officially announcing what's going down this weekend! There's only TWO more sleeps until our first-ever all-UMBC Women's Grand Final.

For the first time in the program's 30-year history, and 4 years of extending our program to two teams, both sides have secured spots in the MWBL Division 1 Women's Grand Final, after a dominant season finishing 1st and 2nd on the ladder.

We started this program in 1996 with a flag. We're coming away in 2026 with another one.

Uni, you better show up.

As a bonus, here are some stats:
🔹Of all games played in Div 1 Women's this year, 60% of those were won by UMBC
🔹A record 36 women took to the field for the two teams this year
🔹Of the 17 clubs fielding teams in MWBL Women's, only 4 have ever had two sides. Only UMBC have always had both in Div 1

💪 Player of the Round 💪

For the second time this year, our Prelim Finals player of the week is our fearless leader Megan Kelly! The club president displayed an impressive two-way performance to send Women's Blue into the Grand Finals in their 8-5 W against North Balwyn.

Player of the Round is brought to you by our favourite post-training feed, The Clyde Hotel. Player of the Round wins a pot and a parma!

🏆 PRELIM FINALS 🏆

The results are in...

🔹 Women's Blue have done it! For the first time since we started fielding two Women's squads, Women's Blue has secured their ticket into the Grand Final. Their game against North Balwyn was off to a tense start, with the Stingers getting on the board first. Much of the game was spent with both teams either tied or within one run of the other. Finally, after a 4-all tie, UMBC broke it open to double their score in the late game and take the W.

🔹 Our last standing Seniors team in the A4s sadly went down and were eliminated in a 2-6 loss to Monty. Monty were able to capitalise on early run-scoring, finding gaps to manufacture rallies. Some great pitching once again from Ryan to slow the opposition, but baserunning errors cost us, with only two crossing the plate for UMBC. Nevertheless we congratulate the A4s on a fantastic season with 189 runs batted in and only 66 given up.

How it started vs how it’s 🤩 going 🤩

We started in 1996 with a flag. Guess what we’re ending 2026 with?

We're so grateful to have a common denominator in the lovely leadership from the UMBC women's program founder, Kat Balzat, who has been supporting Coach Paula with the Women's Blue team this season.

🏆 PRELIM FINALS 🏆

We're back for week 2 of finals, here's what's in store.

🔹 Looking to bounce back this weekend are the A4 squad. A win this weekend will send them into a rematch against Knox in the Grand Final. To get there, they must take down 4th-place GMBC on Saturday at Ross Straw. They faced GMBC twice during the regular season, coming away with the W both times.

🔹 Women's Blue narrowly missed out on advancing straight through to the big dance by one run last week. To lock in a rematch against Women's White, they'll need to beat the North Balwyn Stingers. The two teams saw each other four times this year, with Women's Blue winning three of those and drawing in the other.

🔹 Women's White receive a well-deserved bye this week, as they await the announcement of their Grand Final opponents. They face the winner of Women's Blue vs North Balwyn.
