Northern SSSM is proud to announce that the Surgical Mentorship Program will be continuing in 2026!

The Surgical Mentorship Programme pairs surgically-keen medical students with surgeons/surgical trainees in a specialty of interest, providing a wonderful opportunity to gain greater exposure into surgery and surgical pathways, beyond the formal MD curriculum!

Northern SSSM is excited to announce that a Suturing and Hand-Tying Revision Workshop will be held at NCHER on Thursday, the 30th of July at 4pm. As always, all year levels are invited to attend, with both newer students keen to try these procedures out in a supportive environment and the more experienced to continue developing their skills and confidence very welcome!
In addition, there will be a friendly competition to determine the most proficient amongst our cohort with prizes on offer, so come along and suture or hand-tie away to your heart's content!

Thanks to our amazing demonstrators Sean, Zoe, Ilycia and Gianni for making this workshop possible!

In partnership with MUDIS, SSSM-NH will be hosting their first ultrasound workshop. This workshop will provide the basic guidelines on when and how to use US guided cannulation.
This workshop is catered to all year levels as it will serve as a great enrichment to become safer clinicians particularly in the ED setting! We will have our NH ED registrars and consultants demonstrate and guide us through the know-hows. Snacks after the workshop will be provided.

What a blast wrapping up the first semester‼️

We hosted a laparoscopy workshop last week led by Dr. Krinal Mori, Zainab, Laim, and Maggie 🐐🐐🐐🐐. We learned, practiced, and even held our own peg transfer competition 🤩. Shoutout to the winning duo, Aubrey and Ethan! 🏆

Our team was also busy scouting members for our Northern team for the laparoscopy competition later this year, so let us know if you’d like to join 👀
