Meet your Race Director.
I’m Blake. I’ve run two backyard ultras, and I know exactly what a backyard does to a person.
I built The Furnace to create a real challenge: no shade, Queensland heat, an hourly loop that doesn’t stop for anyone. Dalby’s first backyard ultra.
120 spots. Registrations open August.
If you’ve ever wondered where your actual limit is, this is where you find out.

A test of the mind and body.
Same 6.7km loop. Every hour. The sun doesn’t let up and neither does the clock. There’s no pacing yourself for later. Every lap asks the same question again.
Most people know their limit in theory. This is where you find out in practice.

Early bird registration opens August 2026.

The hardest part of a backyard ultra isn’t a single loop. It’s running it again, and again, and again, until you can’t.
There’s no finish line to chase, no pace to hold. Just a loop, a clock, and a decision every hour: go again or don’t. The format doesn’t care how strong you looked on loop one. It only counts who’s still standing on the last one.
That’s the test. Not speed. Repetition.

Easy on paper. Different once you’re standing at the start line.
How far will you go?
