FROM MELBOURNE TO CAMBODIA — THE WAT HAS MADE NATIONAL NEWS. 🇰🇭🔥
https://postkhmer.com/sport/news/949664
A proud moment for our students, our community and everyone who believes in the future of Kun Khmer.
The Wat has been featured by Post Khmer, one of Cambodia’s major news publications.
What began as a mission to preserve, protect and promote our ancient martial art in Australia is now being recognised across Cambodian media.
This is bigger than one gym.
This is about protecting the legacy of our ancestors.
It is about creating a place where the next generation can connect with their culture, develop discipline and carry Kun Khmer proudly into the future.
Every class taught, every student who walks through our doors and every person who shares our message helps keep this sacred art alive.
And to anyone still considering joining us:
Kun Khmer is more than fighting.
It builds strength, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility and practical self-defence skills.
It develops confidence, discipline, resilience, emotional control and respect.
It strengthens the body.
It sharpens the mind.
It connects us to something greater than ourselves.
We are not simply watching the resurgence of Kun Khmer.
We are building it.

It was an incredible honour to welcome His Excellency General Khov Chhay, President of the International Kun Khmer Federation, and Vice President Kong Visol to The Wat.
This moment represents a significant milestone for me, our students, and the entire community we are building here in Australia.
I cannot fully express my gratitude for their recognition, support, and belief in the work we are doing.
We carry a responsibility greater than ourselves: to preserve, protect, and honour Kun Khmer and our Khmer traditions, so they may continue to live through future generations.
This is only the beginning.

It was an honour and privilege to meet the Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, Derek Yip.
We had the opportunity to hear about his experience, his insights into Australia’s long-standing relationship with Cambodia, and the partnerships continuing to strengthen the connection between both countries.
It was also a privilege to share our own stories with him, including the work we do through Khmer Professionals Australia, as well as the important work Sak is doing with the Yuvechun youth group. These initiatives mean a great deal to us, and it was meaningful to speak about how they contribute to community, identity and the next generation.
I’m also excited to have the opportunity to introduce the Ambassador to some Kun Khmer techniques and share my story on cultural preservation of the art.
