Australian Census 2026 β Why Your Response Matters
On Tuesday, 11 August 2026, Australians will complete the national Census.
While the question about religion is optional, we encourage every follower of Jesus to answer it thoughtfully.
If you are part of Divergent Church, you are part of a Pentecostal Church. It is part of your faith journey and the community you belong to. For that reason, we encourage you to write "Pentecostal" as your religion in the Census.
This isn't about promoting denominationalism or suggesting that our identity is found in a denomination. Our primary identity is in Christ and as part of His Church.
Rather, the Census is a statistical tool. Simply writing "Christian" often groups together people with very different beliefs and levels of religious practice, including many who identify culturally rather than actively participating in a church community.
Writing "Pentecostal" helps provide a more accurate picture of Australia's religious landscape. It reflects a significant and growing movement of churches across Australia. This information helps governments, researchers and policy makers better understand the communities they serve and can influence future planning, consultation and legislation affecting faith communities.
How to Answer
When you reach the religion question:
1. Answer the religion question (it is optional, but we encourage you to complete it).
2. Select "Other" if Pentecostal is not listed as an option.
3. Write "Pentecostal".
Thank you for taking a few moments to ensure Australia's Census accurately reflects the faith communities that are actively serving and contributing to our nation.

Don't forget, it's ONE SUNDAY this Sunday, 5 July!
This week is a little different as we'll all be gathering together with City PM at the Upper Room at 5:57pm.
We're also excited to welcome Phil and Terri from as they join us for this special gathering.
Enjoy a relaxed morning, have a long lunch, then come and celebrate with the Divergent family all that God has done, is doing, and is yet to do. We can't wait to worship, share stories, and gather as one church.
Bring a friend. See you Sunday! π
