Paul Masse Seminar The following is not intended to promote self-defence against a real sword encounter. Rather, Mutōdori provides an opportunity to develop and refine essential principles such as timing, distance, positioning, and control of space. Training should always be conducted safely and at a pace appropriate to each practitioner's level of experience. Equally important is the role of the uke. By delivering a committed and responsive attack, the uke enables their training partner to experience a greater sense of realism while maintaining a safe and productive learning environment.
