HAPPY DISCHARGE DAY 🙌🏼 to this gorgeous gelding who was diagnosed with Sweeney shoulder last year!! The first photo was taken on 12/09/25 and the second yesterday (31/08/26).

The main difference we can see here is the amount of muscle bulk that has returned in his infraspinatus and supraspinatus (he’s a little hairier in photo two, but the difference is still stark).

Functionally, he is now trotting up sound, has great balance, no pain or laxity with shoulder stress tests and is back under saddle in full work on his property.

His owner was extremely committed and followed the the physiotherapy program as directed - including NEMS, balance exercises, strengthening exercises and proprioceptive training. Patience is always a virtue with neurological injuries!!

Had a great time presenting at the Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Science Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists over the weekend! My presentation covered the current evidence for use of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy & the role of Physiotherapists working as an adjunct to this modality. Was also great to get around to some other presentations to see what developments are happening elsewhere in the veterinary space!

Currently off on leave from today (July 16, 2026) - first day back will be Monday July 27, 2026. I will be in and out of reception so will be slow to reply to any messages during this time but will be checking my phone when able. Have a great two weeks and see you all at the end of July! 🐴
