For many years, the Newcastle Junior Cricket Association has proudly hosted its January Carnivals, bringing young cricketers together from across NSW. We've also been supporting and growing girls cricket for many years, so it feels like the natural next step to introduce our inaugural U13 Girls Carnival.
We'll be welcoming associations from both metropolitan and country areas for four days of cricket, friendship and fun in Newcastle from 4-7 January 2027.
Our aim is simple - to provide a carnival where girls can enjoy playing cricket, develop their skills, meet new teammates and create lasting memories. This is not a pathway competition. It's about participation, development and giving young players a fantastic carnival experience.
If your association doesn't have enough players to nominate a full team, we'd still love to hear from you. Let us know in your Expression of Interest if you have players who are keen to participate, and we'll work with you to explore options such as combining players from multiple associations to help make it happen.
Before submitting an Expression of Interest, please read the Expressions of Interest Information Pack, which outlines important information about the carnival, eligibility and the EOI process.

And while you're here... make a week of it! City of Newcastle has something for everyone. Spend time at our beautiful beaches, visit the Museum, explore the Art Gallery, enjoy lunch or a coffee along Darby Street, or simply relax and enjoy everything our city has to offer. We hope families take the opportunity to create lasting memories - not just on the cricket field, but together during a great week away.
We look forward to welcoming girls from across NSW to Newcastle for what we hope will become another proud NJCA tradition.

Over the last few years we've tried to get a Stage 3 girls competition off the ground. We've tried a few things and haven't quite found the sweet spot. So this time we engaged with the girls, surveyed parents and clubs, and have worked to build something around what they told us they wanted. We think this gives us the best chance yet - but we need everyone on board to give it a red hot crack. ๐
The plan looks a little different to traditional junior cricket models. But we believe it will deliver what the girls have been asking for.

A Friday afternoon T20 competition for girls aged U14 to U18 (Season 2026/27). Instead of clubs forming teams, NJCA will draft players into balanced, competitive teams - while working to keep small friendship groups together. ๐

โค๏ธ A DAY FOR DELILAH โ SUNDAY 28 JUNE โค๏ธ
Head down to the Orana Hotel, Blacksmiths, from 12pmโ6pm to support local NCZ and NJCA cricket volunteer Tim Cox and his daughter Delilah.
๐ต Live Music
๐ Auctions & Raffles
๐ Sporting Memorabilia & Event Tickets
โค๏ธ Supporting a Wonderful Cause
There are some fantastic prizes on offer, including sporting event tickets, signed memorabilia and much more. If you're able to drop in, say hello to Tim, purchase a raffle ticket, bid in the auctions, or simply make a donation via the QR code on the flyer, every contribution will make a difference.
At just 8 years old, Delilah has been courageously battling a rare brain tumour known as a craniopharyngioma. Since her diagnosis, she has endured multiple brain surgeries and spent 10 weeks in ICU at John Hunter Hospital. While she has faced several complications along the way, her most recent MRI has finally shown some encouraging signs, and she is now home continuing her recovery, although she still faces regular hospital visits and ongoing challenges.
While the Cox family is incredibly grateful for this progress, Delilah's journey is far from over. She will require lifelong specialist care, hormone replacement treatment, regular scans, and ongoing monitoring due to the risk of tumour regrowth.
Any support, big or small, would be greatly appreciated as Tim and Delilah continue this difficult journey.
Please feel free to share this post and help make A Day for Delilah a memorable community event.
