What if you've been trying to feel "safe"... without ever knowing what safety actually feels like?
For many adults living with the impact of developmental trauma, "safe" didn't mean calm.
π§ Staying quiet.
π§ Having no needs.
π§ Watching everyone else's emotions.
π§ Surviving.
So what happens when recovery asks you to find something your brain may never have learned to recognise?
That's the question we're exploring in today's video.
π₯ Watch now, then let me know...
π When you hear the word "safe", what's the very first thing your brain associates with?
π I've also written a companion blog post, together with a One Next Step worksheet to help you begin exploring what "safe" has meant to your brain.

In yesterday's video, we explored what weaponised spirituality is and why healthy spiritual guidance should never require fear, shame or the loss of your autonomy.
This practical checklist highlights five common signs that spirituality may be being used to control rather than support growth.
I've also written a companion blog post, including a One Next Step worksheet to help you recognise these patterns with greater clarity.

Not everything that sounds spiritual is healthy.
Sometimes spiritual beliefs are used to encourage growth, compassion and hope.
Sometimes they're used to create fear, silence questions or avoid accountability.
That's called weaponised spirituality.
In this video, we explore how spiritual language can sometimes be used to control behaviour, dismiss emotional pain or keep people trapped in unhealthy relationships or environments.
This isn't about criticising faith.
It's about recognising when spirituality is used to strengthen people... and when it's used to control them.

π I've also written a companion blog post with practical examples to help you recognise the difference.

Have you ever walked away from a conversation wondering... "How did we end up talking about my trauma instead of what just happened?"
Sometimes the issue isn't that you're emotional. It isn't that you're "too sensitive." It isn't even that you're having a trauma response. Sometimes the conversation has quietly shifted.
Instead of exploring the behaviour that caused the hurt and wanting to nourish the relationship, the focus moves onto your reaction.
That's called weaponising.
In this video, I explain:
π§ What weaponising actually means.
π§ How to recognise when a conversation has shifted.
π§ Why using someone's trauma history to avoid present-day accountability damages trust.
π§ The difference between genuine understanding and deflection.
This isn't about diagnosing people.
It's about recognising a communication pattern that can leave adults living with Complex CPtsd questioning themselves long after the conversation has ended.

π I've also written a detailed blog article if you'd like to explore this topic more deeply.

Researchers expected to find this in poverty. The data proved them wrong.
The original ACE study challenged that assumption.
Many participants were educated, employed, financially stable and had access to healthcare. Yet the long-term impact of childhood adversity was still measurable decades later.
π₯ I've unpacked this further in the video in the previous post.
π I've also written a companion blog post if you'd like a deeper explanation, including practical ways to recognise the difference between insight and change. You'll discover a One Next Step resource, a simple practical exercise.
I'd love to hear your thoughts - Have you ever reached a point where you understood your past, but still found yourself reacting in ways you couldn't seem to change?

Burnout and stress are often treated as though they're the same thing... but they're not.
Understanding the difference can change how you approach your recovery and help you stop expecting quick fixes that were never designed to work.
In this week's video, we'll look at the key differences between stress and burnout, especially for adults living with Complex PTSD.
π I've also written a companion blog post, and you'll find a free One Next Step self-check sheet to help you identify what kind of exhaustion you're experiencing and what might help next.
Remember, understanding what's happening is often the first step towards changing it.

You slept all weekend... so why are you still exhausted? ave you watched yesterday's video yet?
If you've ever woken up after a long sleep, a weekend off, or even a holiday and still felt completely drained, you're not alone. Many people assume they're simply tired. But burnout is often something very different.
I've also written a blog post that expands on the topic, with additional information, practical insights and resources to help you better understand the pattern and take your one next step.
I hope it helps you feel a little more informed, a little more confident, and a little less alone.

You've rested. You've slept. You've taken time off.
So why are you still exhausted?
Burnout isn't always just about working too hard. Sometimes your brain has been living in protection mode for years, which means rest alone may not be enough to help you feel like yourself again.
In today's short video, I explain one of the biggest misunderstandings about burnout and why understanding the cause changes the next step in recovery.
π₯ Watch now and let me know... did this resonate with your experience?
Burnout Has Nothing to Do With Being Tired You've rested. You've slept. You've taken time off.So why are you...
