Bilston Lester Sailing Team

After a very spontaneous decision to head down to NSW, we spent the first week of 2025 racing amongst 12 F16’s for the 2024/2025 nationals.

We managed to put up a few good scores and a couple of race wins, maintaining a solid position in the top 4 for the regatta, however, on the final day, after an unfortunate race with a score at the backend of the fleet and an unsuccessful protest resulting in a DSQ, we finished the regatta in 5th.

Who knows what comes next for BLST but for Kris it’s back to his wide variety of boats and for Addy it’s back to yachting.

That’s a wrap for the N15 Open European Championship 2024! 🇮🇹☀️⛵️

I think we can pretty well say we that the countless on-water hours and hard work over the past year has paid off and we’re super proud of our efforts over the week. So much learnt and gained over what was a pretty hectic week to say the least with no breeze, big breeze, swell, some very shifty conditions and hours spent waiting under AP, there were definitely some highs and lows coming off the water.

We managed to maintain a position in the top 10 after day 2 for the rest of the regatta, using our speed and skills to finish with some very strong results. We finished 5th overall and 3rd U19 team, something I think we are both very pleased with.

EURO’S DAY 3 - A delayed start waiting for wind today meant we were only able to get through two races and keeping us thinking with some super close racing in the light and shifty conditions

A strong effort and solid day for the team and we’re happy to be sitting in 4th place overall after a second place finish and a bullet in the final race of the day

EURO’S DAY 1 - With 68 boats, 34 on the start line, 5 hours, 3 races, swell and a building 15 knots, we came off the water feeling pretty happy with ourselves and a good start to the regatta
