๐Ÿ† CHAMPIONS!! ๐Ÿ†

The Warlocks have won yet another final, this time claiming our third championship in a row!

A masterful all-round performance from skipper Dilshan Prathiraje once again drove the side home on the biggest stage.

After winning the toss, Warlocks sent ISH Backyard XI in to bat. Viren Shah was brilliant with the new ball, getting it moving early and claiming 3 wickets in his opening spell. He was well supported by Dumindu Abeykoon, who kept things tight through the middle and picked up a wicket of his own. Then came the skipper. Dilshan ripped through the middle order, finishing with outstanding figures of 4/18 from 12.2 overs, while Shalinda Abeysinghe chipped in with 2 important wickets. ISH Backyard XI were eventually bowled out for 164.

In reply, Warlocks started cautiously and went to stumps at 43/2. On Day 2 morning, Shalinda accelerated the innings with some masterful stroke play all around the ground, making a valuable 43.

Another middle-order stutter meant captain Dilshan had to guide the ship home and he did exactly that, finishing unbeaten on 50. Nilanka also provided crucial support with a well-made 30, helping Warlocks secure the first-innings win and take a 61-run lead.

In the second innings, Viren again got the ball moving and claimed another 4 wickets, while Dilshan added 3 more wickets to his match tally. ISH Backyard XI declared at 112/7, setting Warlocks 52 runs to win and hoping to have one final crack.

But the Warlocks stayed calm. The chase was completed in 13 overs, with Shalinda top scoring with an unbeaten 25, to seal the championship.

What a season it has been!! Four finals in a row and now three championships in a row. An incredible ride with a great bunch of boys.

Fingers crossed for the summer season. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ

๐Ÿ WARLOCKS INTO THE FINAL IN STYLE! ๐Ÿ

Warlocks have booked their place in the finals with a brilliant outright win, driven by a captainโ€™s performance for the ages and a team that refused to give up.

After winning the toss, Warlocks sent Carina in to bat on a testing surface. Hostile opening spells from captain Dilshan Prathiraje and Dumindu Abeykoon had the opposition in early trouble at 4/28. A few missed chances allowed Carina to recover and push their total to 199 in 62.2 overs, but Dilshan led from the front with the ball, finishing with outstanding figures of 5/37 from 16.2 overs. Shalinda Abeysinghe also played a key role, picking up 3 important wickets for 42 runs.

In reply, Warlocks had a difficult finish to Day 1, losing three wickets before stumps and ending the day at 26/3, still needing 174 runs for the first-innings win.

Day 2 started with Warlocks fighting hard. Sanju Nuwan played a counter-punching knock of 31, showing beautiful stroke play around the ground, while Manuja Gunawardana batted watchfully to see off the new ball. However, a middle-order collapse left Warlocks reeling at 90/8, still needing over 100 runs for first-innings win.

Then came a partnership for the ages.

A stunning 136-run stand for the 9th wicket between Jasbir Singh and Dilshan completely turned the match around. Jasbir initially took the attack to the opposition with two huge sixes, while Dilshan held firm under pressure. As the partnership grew, Dilshan seized the moment and began to attack, with both batters bringing up their half-centuries in a match-defining stand.

Dilshan eventually departed for an epic 75, while Jasbir remained unbeaten on a brilliant 63, helping Warlocks reach 232 and take a crucial 33-run first-innings lead.

Then came the demolition job.

After losing the outright result to Carina earlier in the league stage, Warlocks returned the favour in the semi-final. Viren Shah produced a spell to remember, ripping through the batting order with 6/20, including a hat-trick, as he got the ball moving all over the place. Captain Dilshan added another 3 wickets, finishing the match with 8 wickets to go with his valuable 75 runs.

Carina were bowled out for just 55, leaving Warlocks only 23 runs to chase.

Shalinda wasted no time, smashing 20 off 11 balls to finish the chase in just 2.3 overs, sealing an emphatic 10-wicket outright win.

From 90/8 and staring down defeat, Warlocks found a way once again. A true team effort, a captainโ€™s masterclass, and a semi-final win full of character.

๐Ÿ”ฅ From the jaws of defeat again.
๐Ÿ† Bring on the final.

MATCH RESULT ๐Ÿ

After two disappointing outings, the Warlocks bounced back in style, securing an outright win in a must-win clash to keep our season alive and lock in second place on the table.

Winning the toss, Warlocks chose to bowl first on a sluggish pitch with variable bounce, and Viren Shah immediately made the ball talk, ripping through the top order with a brilliant four-wicket haul in his opening spell. He was well supported by Dumindu Abeykoon, who bowled with great control and threat with the new ball, and was unlucky not to have more reward after chances went down. Shalinda Abeysinghe then took over and finished the job, ending with 3 wickets as Vattolis were bowled out for 92.

In reply, Dilshan and Manuja laid a solid platform at the top, setting things up nicely for the middle order. Useful contributions from Arnold, Nilanka, and Viren followed, with Viren producing a valuable 34 from the lower order to help Warlocks post 145 and take a crucial first-innings lead.

Vattolis responded with 121 in their second innings, but once again the Warlocks bowlers stood up. Shalinda continued his excellent game with another 3 wickets, while Dilshan and Thinura applied early pressure with disciplined and hostile spells.

That left Warlocks 69 to chase in the final 15 overs. On a difficult surface, Sanju the tournamentโ€™s highest run-scorer produced a composed and classy unbeaten 40 with a helpful contribution from Chanuka supporting the chase, guiding the side home in just 13 overs and sealing a memorable 7-wicket outright win.

With this result, the Warlocks finish second on the table, and itโ€™s now all to play for in next weekโ€™s semi-final.

Special mention to Viren Shah, our top performer, who starred with 34 runs and match figures of 5 wickets.

๐Ÿ ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER WIN - Warlocks make it look like business as usual ๐ŸŸขโšซ

A fixture billed with all the build-up of a local derby, but the Warlocks turned the rivalry into a routine day at the office at Marchant Park, Oval 7.

Northern Lions skipper Rukshan won the toss and sent us in to bat on a spongy, uncovered pitch that had plenty to say all day. Openers Dilshan Prathiraje and Sanju Nuwan dug in and saw off a tricky new ball as it misbehaved off the surface but credit to the conditions, the Warlocks were eventually bundled out for a modest 79.

Then came the fightback with the ball. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Captain Dilshan Prathiraje set the tone early, ripping through the Lions' top order with some unplayable deliveries to grab 4 wickets in a fiery opening spell. From the other end, Shalinda Abeysinghe did what he does best carving through the order for a superb 6-wicket haul. Between them, the two opening bowlers shared all 10 wickets and folded the opposition for just 40, handing the Warlocks a vital 39-run first-innings lead on a wicket where every run was earned.

Back out to bat, the Warlocks now sit at 57/4, powered by a punchy 36-run cameo from Roberto and the watchful presence of Dumindu Abeykoon holding things together.

๐Ÿ“Š Warlocks lead by 96 heading into Day Two and the boys are firmly in the driver's seat. ๐Ÿ’ช
