Swing Patrol Brisbane

This week at Swing Patrol North Brisbane, we’re diving into swing-outs and a rueda with two amazing fill-in teachers, Heather & Brian! 💃🕺

We start every week by going through the foundations of each basic step, so no prior dance experience is needed. Whether you’re brand new to swing dancing or coming back for more, everyone is welcome!

We're excited to have DJ Sonny "Slow-Trane" Thompson back behind the decks for our next Blues Cave! 🎶

Steve: aka ‘Sonny ‘Slow-Trane’ Thompson’ An obsessed ‘music genealogist’ says “music has been his constant life-long friend”. Hailing from ‘tough town’ Northern England, where he was a pioneer in the mid to late 80’s, started the region’s ‘vanguard’ underground club, mixing Hip Hop, Soul, House and ‘MadChester’ sounds.
London came calling. He lived and breathed the mod subculture, digging into Northern Soul, 60s Beat & Garage, Freakbeat, Ye-Ye, Rhythm & Blues & Jazz. He heard the free tempo duets at the heart of Miles Davis Sextet and The Incredible Jimmy Smith, their music became his new companions and gave him added direction.
Now, through dance (a journey of which he’s only beginning) he’s continuing his pilgrimage, re-discovering his love for music and playing rare grooves.

He’s forever grateful and feels blessed for the opportunity to play at The Blues Cave the music he loves (and hopefully you will too)!

For our final 6-beat beginner class, we're learning the Sugar Push and some classic Pecks. No partner required, beginners welcome!

✨ Level 2 (Switches and Swivel Recap): This week we will work on switches - a move that you can really show off your swivels with! We will also do a quick recap of swivels.

✨ Blues teachers announcement for Blues Cave! ✨

We're so excited that Jodi and Joel will be teaching the one-hour beginner Blues dance class before the Blues social next Friday!

From 7:00 - 8:00pm, they'll guide you into the smooth and soulful world of Ballroomin’ Blues. In this beginner-friendly taster class, you’ll learn everything you need to spend the evening gliding across the floor with confidence, connection, and style. Come discover how good slow dancing can feel!

No experience required - just bring yourself.
