You know what’s worse than being cold for the first 30 seconds?

Seeing everyone else’s swim photos later and thinking…

“Yeah. I should’ve gone.” 😭🌊

The group jump.
The clear water.
The post-swim grin.
The one friend who suddenly becomes the unofficial photographer.

That’s the stuff you don’t really want to hear about second-hand.

So… are you in next time, or are you liking the photos from the couch? 👀👇

🌊 Don’t just watch the photos:

Quick check.

When someone says “group jump photo,” are you:

A) Fully committed
B) Already laughing before take-off
C) Worried about your goggles
D) Pretending you don’t care but secretly checking the photo after 😄

Be honest.

The group jump is never graceful.

That is exactly why it works.

The first few minutes are always the busiest.

Getting in.
Finding your rhythm.
Sorting your breathing.
Pretending the water temperature is completely fine. 🌊

Then it clicks.

The noise drops away.
The group settles.
You stop thinking about the swim and just start swimming.

That bit never gets old.

Ocean swimmers love saying things like:

“Let’s just see how we feel.”

And somehow that always means:

✔️ we are swimming
✔️ we are going further than planned
✔️ someone is suggesting another entry point
✔️ no one packed enough snacks 😂

Very casual behaviour from people who are absolutely not casual.

The best swims usually start with, “Yeah, alright, why not?”

Who’s the “one more swim” instigator in your group? 👀👇

Swimmers packing for a swim trip:

One sensible swimsuit.
Four backup pairs of goggles.
Two caps.
Snacks for a small army.
A towel they will absolutely forget is wet until later. 😂

And somehow still someone asks, “Did anyone bring sunscreen?”

Classic swim crew behaviour.

What’s the one thing you always overpack? 👀👇

🌊 Pack the bag. Pick the trip:

You know when the water is clear enough that everyone goes a bit quiet?

Not awkward quiet.

More like everyone has just looked down at the same time and remembered why they got in.

Arms moving.
Bubbles trailing.
Sun flickering through the water.

Then someone pops up and says exactly what everyone is thinking:

“Okay… that was unreal.” 🌊

That’s a pretty good kind of silence.

Every swim has that one moment where someone says:

“Let’s just do a quick one.”

Cute.

Because somehow that turns into:

✔️ one proper swim
✔️ one extra dip
✔️ one group photo
✔️ one person saying “actually, can we go again?” 🌊😂

Open water swimmers are not casual people.

We just dress it up better.

Who in your group is physically incapable of doing “one quick swim”? 👀👇

Quick personality test.

When someone says “group photo before we get in,” you are:

A) Already posing
B) Fixing your cap for the 12th time
C) Halfway to the water
D) Hiding behind someone taller 😂

No wrong answers.

Although C is usually the one yelling, “Come on, are we swimming or what?”

The best part is usually not the perfect photo.

It’s the bit just after everyone gets out.

Hair everywhere.
Goggles on foreheads.
Someone still dripping.
Everyone talking over each other because the swim was that good. 🌊

That’s the stuff you remember.

Not polished.
Not quiet.
Just a bunch of good humans buzzing after a swim.

Who needs this kind of weekend soon? 👀👇

K'Gari Swim Tour 11/06/2026

FEEL THE CONNECTION

Five years ago, Ally and I went to Lady Elliot Island for our first swim tour and the flight path took us directly over K’Gari, giving us a bird’s-eye view of the lakes, rainforest and the raw beauty of the island.

This flight was the start of an idea! 💡

What we didn’t anticipate in the planning was the sense of deep connection you get on the island; it’s a feeling, an energy, a vibe. I can’t really explain it, but the feeling is real!

While, Lady Elliot is all about what’s happening underwater, K’Gari has a fourth dimension. The island welcomes you, it embraces you and it looks after you ❤️🏊🏻‍♀️❤️🏊‍♂️❤️ 🐋

Plan a weekend escape!! ✅
