Congratulations to all of our newly graded students! π
Everyone excelled at their level, and it was wonderful to witness not only the skill demonstrated but also the camaraderie, encouragement, and support shared throughout the day.
This semester has been a particularly challenging one. As a teacher, I have been navigating a deep personal loss, learning how to make space for grief while continuing to show up for my students and the school. Many of our students have also faced their own challenges, setbacks, and moments where giving up may have seemed like the easier option.
Yet they kept showing up.
They trained when motivation was low, when life was difficult, and when obstacles appeared in their path. This is Kung Ku. Hard work over time not just techniques and forms, but commitment, perseverance, and dedication to continue practice, especially when it feels hard.
I am incredibly proud of how each student has shown up for themselves, for their training, and for our school. Thank you for your trust, effort, and willingness to keep walking the path.
Well done everyone. ππ

Happy Lunar New Year 2026. What does the Fire Horse mean for you for your Wing Chun journey? A 60 year cycle and rare pairing that represents bold movement intensified. The Horse carries energy, independence and forward drive.
Fire intensifies everything!!! π₯
With full strength in momentum combined with passion we have an opportunity to give energy to our life goals.
However, it can also mean impatience and reactivity, so mindful and intentional forward momentum is recommended to avoid burn out.
In Wing Chun, our forward energy is everything, however it must come from a centred position within our foundation and structure, not from ego.
Fire without rooting becomes uncontrolled force.
Forward intention without sensitively listening becomes collision.
This year I would like to invite the following in to refining how we train:
β’ Hold your stance when you want to rush and take a moment to stay connected and centred.
β’ Breathe when you feel heat rise by slowing down the moment noticing the rise and fall of your breath.
β’ Commit to precision over power such as valuing quality of technique over uncontainable power first.
β’ Build trust and be a safe, responsive training partner.
In Sil Lim Tao we light the fire and tend gently to the embers to raise a sustained, disciplined, powerful internal energy.
In Chi Sau we can test whether our energy is reactive or disciplined.
The Fire Horse can bring rapid growth for our training this year, but only if we stay grounded.
Train boldly.
Lead with integrity.
Direct your fire.
π₯ Rooted.
π Forward.
π₯ Intentional.
