We are officially half way through our 6 week match play and wow wee are we having fun!
It’s amazing to see how much the kids are improving from week to week.
Each week we hand out certificates based on sportsmanship and spirit of tennis awards. We focus on effort, being a good sport and fun over the score aspect (especially in our Red and Orange groups). We have seen an incredible improvement with the kids energy on the court. As coaches this is what we love to see! 🤩😆
If your child would like to join, it’s not too late! Spots are still open for all time-slots.

Modern parenting often emphasizes freedom of choice. Many parents encourage children to explore interests and decide what they enjoy.
Choice can be valuable, but research shows that early motivation often follows a predictable pattern. When children start learning something new, excitement rises. Soon after, motivation naturally drops as the brain adjusts to effort and challenge.
This drop is related to dopamine, the brain chemical linked to reward and motivation. When early excitement fades, children may feel bored or discouraged. Many parents interpret this moment as a sign the child lacks ability.
In reality, this stage is where growth begins. Pushing gently through the uncomfortable phase teaches persistence and discipline. Skills develop when children continue practicing beyond the first drop in motivation.
Guidance from parents becomes important here. Instead of abandoning activities immediately, helping children stay engaged builds resilience. Structured encouragement can transform temporary frustration into long term confidence.
Children still need space to explore interests. However, steady leadership helps them understand that meaningful growth often follows effort, not just excitement.
Learning to continue when motivation dips can shape perseverance for life.
