ITS GAME DAY!!
Keilor Thunder will be hosting their 11th annual Brain Cancer fundraiser, “Go Grey in May.”
This event is very close to the hearts of all the community at Keilor. Twelve years ago, Keilor lost one of their own Youth Girls players, Olivia Carland, at just 17 years old to brain cancer. A few years later, they also lost their VJBL delegate, John Williams
Keilor Thunder run this fundraiser each year in their memory, while also raising vital awareness and funds to support those affected by brain cancer.
As part of the event, which will take place during our NBL1 home game on Saturday 16th May we will be hosting a raffle, silent auction, and bake sale.
Keilor would be incredibly grateful to have you and your family come along and enjoy a great night of basketball.
Let’s pack the stands, bring the noise, and defend the home court!

Our Avondale Raiders community has always been about supporting one another and right now, we have the chance to come together for something truly meaningful đź©·
Two of our own families are supporting the incredible work of the Live for Lily Foundation, created in honour of Lily Hester. This foundation was born from unimaginable loss, with a mission to raise awareness and fund vital research to find a cure for childhood cancer, so that no child and no family has to endure the heartbreak that Lily’s did.
From April 11–17, 2026, the Ride for Lily will take on an extraordinary 1000km journey. Starting in Canberra, the riders will push themselves through the challenging alpine regions of NSW including Jindabyne, Kosciuszko and Thredbo, before continuing into country Victoria and finishing in Melbourne. It’s a week of long demanding days, tough climbs and physical and mental challenges, but every single kilometre is ridden with purpose.
They ride for the children we’ve lost too soon.
They ride for the families who continue to carry that pain every day.
They ride for the kids who are still bravely fighting, and for those who have survived.
Most importantly, they ride to help fund research to give hope, to find answers, and to move us closer to a future where no child has to fight cancer.
As a community, this is our chance to stand behind these families and this incredible cause. Your support, whether it’s a donation, sharing this post, or simply raising awareness, can make a real difference.
Let’s rally together and show what the Avondale Raiders community is all about 🩷
