What a week it has been celebrating the incredible people who give so much to netball! 🙌🏼
Our socials have certainly been busy, but it has been so special sharing just some of the faces behind our clubs and recognising the people who give their time, energy and passion to make our competition what it is. ❤️
To finish off our Volunteer Appreciation Round, we’re celebrating two wonderful volunteers from Federal Netball Club – Tori Ellis & Carly Ross! 👏🏼
⭐ TORI ELLIS ⭐
🏐 Club: Federal Netball Club
💙 Volunteer role:
Tori currently coaches the Under 13s Feds Force team and has been coaching junior teams at Feds for the past three years.
💬 Describe Feds in three words:
Organised. Listening. Recognising.
😂 Favourite netball memory:
“I have so many!! Winning three back-to-back grand finals at a previous club has got to be up there!
But more recently, last year all my team’s shooters were away or injured, so I was put in GS… I am NOT a shooter 😂 But I got a goal!!! Did a little celebration out on court!”
⭐ CARLY ROSS ⭐
🏐 Club: Federal Netball Club
💙 Volunteer role:
Where do we even start with Carly! 🙌🏼
Carly joined Feds in 2012 as a player and since then has taken on so many roles – umpire, committee member, social media coordinator, umpire coordinator, umpire mentor and coach.
She has also been the ASNA Umpire Coordinator since 2020, with a season break in 2022, ran the Green Shirt Program in 2021, and the Umpire Development Program in 2024 and 2025.

🏆 Favourite netball memories:
“My favourite netball memories have always been my playing days with Federal Angels.
My favourite overall memories were 2019 when I received the Ann Jacobs Umpire Achievement Award, and 2025 when I received the Netball NT Umpire Spirit Award. Both incredible achievements that I am so proud of.”

🏐VOLUNTEER SHOUTOUT – WEST NETBALL CLUB 🏐
Our next Volunteer Appreciation Round shoutout recognises two wonderful volunteers from West Netball Club – Sally Crispe and Sera Crichtonaita! 🙌

❤️ SALLY CRISPE
Sally’s netball journey began at just 8 years old in the Adelaide Hills, and she has been part of West since 2013.
Sally is the current West Netball Club President, and during her time with the club she has done just about everything! She has coached seniors and juniors, umpired, and held every role on the committee. 🏐👏
When asked to describe West in three words, Sally chose:
❤️ Tough. Competitive. Inspiring.
One of Sally’s funniest memories comes from teaching the juniors the rules of netball, when a 6-year-old started peeling off her stick-on fingernails and handing them to Sally to hold — while casually telling her she’d had chocolate for breakfast, all as play continued around them! 😂🏐

💙 SERA CRICHTONAITA
Sera has been a C Badge Umpire since 2024 and can be found with the whistle in hand across our competition, umpiring everything from Division 1 Reserves through to our junior games.
But Sera’s contribution goes well beyond umpiring. After being involved with Seasons Netball Club in 2024, she is now giving back as a West Netball Club Committee Member and an ASNA Committee Member in 2026. 🙌
When asked to describe West in three words, Sera chose:

❤️Supportive. Passionate. Resilient.
One of Sera’s proudest achievements was travelling to Queensland to umpire at Nations, where she umpired an incredible 11 games back-to-back, from juniors right through to seniors! 👏
And her funniest memory? Her very first Division 1 Reserves game! 😂
“I was dying miserably inside and kept telling myself, ‘Don’t you dare show you’re tired!’ I was laughing about it with my co-umpire… and I’ve loved Div 1 Reserves ever since.” 😂🏐
From coaching and umpiring to committee roles and leadership, Sally and Sera show just how many different ways our volunteers give back to our game.

Our next Volunteer Appreciation Round shoutout recognises two incredible women who give so much of their time, energy and passion to the Alice Springs Netball Association – Deb Gray and Sarah Bonney! 👏🏐

💙 DEB GRAY – ASNA PRESIDENT & ACADEMY COACH
Being President of an entire association is one of the biggest volunteer roles there is. Behind every season, every round and every club is an enormous amount of coordination, communication and work. Deb helps bring all of our clubs together, supporting the people who make our competition possible and helping keep netball moving forward in Alice Springs.
And if that wasn’t enough, Deb also gives her time as an Academy Coach! 🙌

Deb has been involved in netball for an incredible 48 years – almost five decades of commitment to the sport and our netball community. What an achievement! 💙

When asked to describe ASNA in three words, Deb chose:
💙 Committed. Community. Passionate.

After 48 years, there are plenty of memories – including some funny ones! 😂 One of Deb’s favourites happened at the NSW State Age Championships, when she was so busy walking and talking that she walked straight into a netball post and split her eye open! 😳😂 Then there was the time she was watching Australia play in Brisbane and dreamt the team was a player short, so they called on Deb to fill in! 😂🏐🇦🇺

Deb, 48 years of giving back to netball is something truly worth celebrating. From coaching and developing players to leading our association and supporting our clubs, your contribution can be seen right across our netball community. Thank you for everything you continue to give. 💙👏

💙 SARAH BONNEY – ASNA COMMITTEE MEMBER & ALL-ROUND SUPER VOLUNTEER
Sarah has been an ASNA Committee Member since 2021, and she is definitely one of those people who seems to have a hand in just about everything! 😂🏐
From Mixed Netball Facilitator, photographer and social media guru, to helping with policies, match reviews and game-day duties, Sarah is always willing to jump in wherever she is needed. And this year, she’s even back out on court playing Div 4 with Wests Netball Club! 🙌

When asked to describe ASNA in three words, Sarah gave us the perfect netball answer:
💫 “ASNA – centre start!” 😂🏐

One of Sarah’s most special netball experiences has been being part of Sundowners Netball Club, where she played from 2019 and had the privilege of serving as President from 2022–2025. For Sarah, watching the club’s juniors grow, develop each week and enjoy the game alongside their friends was incredibly rewarding. It has been particularly special this year seeing some of those players continue their netball journeys and shine at other clubs both in Alice Springs and beyond. 🩵💜🤍

Another highlight was being part of the inaugural Men’s Competition in 2022 – seeing so much talent on display and the men getting out on court and showing just how good men can be at netball! 🔥🙌
Sarah, thank you for everything you continue to give to our netball community – on court, behind the camera, on the committee, on game day and everywhere in between! 💙👏

🏐💙 Deb and Sarah, thank you both for the countless hours you give to ASNA and to netball in Alice Springs. So much of what happens within our association is only possible because people like you are willing to step up, take on the big jobs and keep showing up for our players, clubs and community.

🏐 VOLUNTEER SHOUTOUT – ROVERS NETBALL CLUB 💙❤️
Next up for our Volunteer Appreciation Round, we’re celebrating two wonderful Rovers volunteers – Chloe Southam and Andrea Glover! 🙌🏐
Both Chloe and Andrea have given so much of their time to netball over the years, not only within Rovers but across our wider netball community.

🌟 CHLOE SOUTHAM
Chloe currently plays Div 1 Reserve for Rovers and coaches the 17&U Rovers Rampage – but her coaching journey started long before that!
Chloe began coaching at club level when she was just 15 years old and has since gone on to coach with the ASNA Academy, at NT Link and at Nationals. What an incredible pathway and contribution to developing our players! 👏
When asked to describe Rovers in three words, Chloe kept it simple… 😂
❤️ “The best one!” 🥳
Some of Chloe’s favourite memories include winning her 2025 Grand Final and receiving the Best on Court medal, along with all the special Grand Final wins she has shared with her 17s teams over the years. 🏆

🌟 ANDREA GLOVER
Andrea is another long-standing member of the Rovers family and is currently coaching Div 3.2 Rovers Reign.
She is in her third year as Rovers Treasurer and also takes on the huge job of Umpire Coordinator. Before that, Andrea spent around six years as Secretary and has been on and off the Rovers committee for approximately 15 years!🙌

Add to that almost 30 years of playing netball in Alice Springs, while also umpiring throughout those years, and it’s fair to say Andrea has given an incredible amount of time to our game. ❤️🏐
Her three words for Rovers?
❤️ “Simply the best!”

And one memory that still makes her laugh happened about three years after she switched from Giants to Rovers. While playing against Giants, Andrea got caught up in the moment and accidentally yelled…
“COME ON GIANTS!” 🤣🤣 Safe to say, her teammates never let her live that one down! 😂

Chloe and Andrea are wonderful examples of just how much our volunteers give – coaching, umpiring, mentoring, serving on committees and doing countless jobs behind the scenes.

Thank you Chloe and Andrea for the years of time, energy and commitment you have given to Rovers and to netball in Alice Springs. Our clubs and competition are stronger because of volunteers like you! ❤️🤍🏐👏

🏐 VOLUNTEER SHOUTOUT – KHOLO 💙

Our next Volunteer Appreciation Round shoutout goes to Kholo from Giants Netball Club! 🙌💙
Kholo is part of the Giants U17s team, but her contribution to netball goes well beyond playing. For the past two years, she has been giving back to junior netball as an U11s coach and an umpire across Giants and ASNA. 🏐

She’s spent that time supporting and encouraging our younger players while continuing to learn, develop and grow on her own umpiring journey — a fantastic commitment from one of our young volunteers. 💙

When asked to describe Giants in three words, Kholo chose: 💙 Supportive. Energetic. Passionate.

And her funniest netball memory? 😂
While umpiring at a Regionals competition, Kholo’s whistle suddenly stopped working in the middle of the game. Out of habit, she still gave the full arm signal — and somehow both teams stopped anyway! 😂 Once everyone realised they had reacted to complete silence, the whole court burst out laughing… and Kholo hadn’t even said a word! 🤣🏐

Kholo is a great example of our young players stepping up and giving back to the sport they love. From playing, to coaching our juniors, to picking up the whistle and developing as an umpire, she is already making a difference within our netball community.
