Bit of a frustrating race weekend overall.

We came into the weekend hoping to leave somewhere around the top 5 in the championship. After this one, I think we’ll be lucky to still be inside the top 10 😬

Qualifying was cut short by a red flag, The lap I did get in, I was completely on my own with no draft. At The Bend, that can be worth up to 0.7 seconds, which hurts when just 1.7 seconds separated 1st to 17th.

Race 1: I sucked.

Threw it off the road a few times, got frustrated, and kept making silly mistakes.

Then, just to finish things off, the gearbox threw a cog on the cooldown lap. Sounded like a gr***de going off. And the car came back on a flatbed.

Race 2: the car sucked.

I’d given my spare gearbox to another competitor who needed it, so we ended up playing gearbox musical chairs. Unfortunately, the one we ended up with was a dud. Every gear change was a fight, accompanied by some truly horrible grinding noises.

The car also threw a sensor fault and started pulling ignition timing, which meant we were basically a snail on the straights.

The pace was there, but it’s pretty hard to make a move when the car you’re pushing out of the final corner has pulled three car lengths on you by the end of the straight.

Race 3: it finally came together.

Third gearbox of the weekend went in, we made some moves, avoided the carnage and finally got to show a bit of pace. Unfortunately, we just ran out of laps to get ourselves out of the midfield.

Definitely a weekend to forget, but at least we ended it on a high.

There’s no drop round this year either, so the championship points haul is looking a little grim.

Absolute chaos at turn 6! A multi-car pileup. We somehow threaded the needle and came out unscathed, gaining 7 positions. Pure luck!

An enormous accident in Circuit Excel. One car launches and rolls multiple times, thankfully with no serious injuries.

Not exactly the fastest way through the corner... 😅
On the bright side, I managed to flat-spot all four tyres at the same time.
That's got to count for something, right?
