Six rounds down, and the overall championship picture is starting to get very interesting.

With every round added together, **Notorious** remain on top of the 2026 standings with **673 points**.

**Crimson Raiders** sit in second place with a strong **597 points**, while the battle further down the leaderboard remains extremely tight.

There are still some seriously close fights happening through the middle of the leaderboard.

🔥 **Havoc Company and BFW All Stars are separated by just 5 points** in the fight for third.

🔥 **Placeholder and UTG have only 4 points between them** in sixth and seventh.

And when it comes to Speedies, **Notorious lead with 11**, followed by **Bad Natured with 8** and **Crimson Raiders with 7**.

With **three rounds still to go**, there is plenty of time for this leaderboard to move.

Round 6 also marks the end of our current field configuration, which means **Round 7 will bring another field layout change** and a fresh challenge for every team.

New lanes, new angles, new problems to solve.

Every grab, hang, elimination and Speedy still has the potential to make a difference before the 2026 championship is decided.

🔥 **BFW SPEED EDITION — ROUND 6 RESULTS** 🔥

Round 6 is officially in the evidence locker. 🔒

Nine teams hit the field and, once the dust settled, **Notorious** walked away with the win on **118 points** — putting a healthy 19-point gap between themselves and second place.

The battle through the middle of the table was bloody tight, with only **three points separating 3rd, 4th and 5th**. Bad Natured grabbed the final podium spot on 77, Crimson Raiders finished just two points behind them, and UTG was another single point back on 74.

⚡ **Bad Natured** were the Speedy hunters this round, collecting **three Speedy bonuses**, while **Placeholder** and **Havoc Company** each picked up one.

Massive thanks as always to everyone who competed, helped out, reffed, scored, supported the teams and helped keep the day moving. These rounds don't happen because of one bloke standing around in high-vis yelling at people... although I do make a bloody good effort. 😂

It remains one of the most meaningful things I have ever received from this community.

While my name may be across the top, no major event or competition day is ever carried by one person alone.

Behind every successful day are the people willing to stand beside me, take responsibility, make decisions and step up when things get busy.

This shield now also recognises three of those people.

GELMAN

Long before GEL-X 1, Gelman had already proven that he was someone I could rely on.

That trust is exactly why I chose him as my 2IC for the event.

He understands how I operate, knows when to step in and has repeatedly shown that he will have my back when I need him.

His support has extended well beyond competition days, and his friendship means far more to me than I could properly fit onto a small engraved plate.

🛡️ GEL-X 2 — 2025
CROSSIE

Crossie—better known to many as Wayne from Bay City—was my 2IC for GEL-X 2.

Wayne is calm, capable and dependable.

He is the kind of person who can walk into a situation, understand what needs to happen and get it done without needing the spotlight.

As I mentioned in my previous post, having both Wayne and Gelman beside me at Round Five gave me an enormous amount of peace of mind.

Knowing that either of them could step in and take control if needed allowed me to focus on doing my own job properly.

DIESEL

Diesel—Ryan—is one of the people who consistently has my back at our local BFW Speed Edition competitions.

He helps keep things moving, supports the referee team and steps up whenever something needs to be handled.

A lot of the work that keeps a competition running smoothly happens quietly in the background.

It may not always receive the biggest cheer, but it is absolutely noticed.

Round Five is officially in the books, and this month’s results have received the full trading-card treatment!

Before we crack open the leaderboard pack, however, I need to confess something…

While putting these scores together, I realised that I never actually posted last month’s scores. 🤦‍♂️🦤

I simply forgot to post them online.

Absolute peanut behaviour from me.

Now that I have publicly confessed my crimes against social media administration, let’s get into Round Five. 😂

🌏 OUR ROUND FIVE VISITORS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

This month was a little different, with several visitors joining our regular Speed Edition crew.

First up, we welcomed Milky from One Shot Crew in Far North Queensland, who travelled all the way down from Townsville and joined Notorious for the day.

That is a fair hike for a casual fill-in! ✈️

Milky slotted into the team beautifully and helped Notorious finish only four points behind first place.

Thanks for making the trip and becoming part of the Speed Edition madness for the day.

Krysis, normally a pillar player for the Valhalla Keepers, stepped up to play with Havoc Company.
Between his own games, he also repeatedly jumped back onto the field to help referee.

Playing and refereeing throughout the same competition is no easy task, so a massive thank you to Krysis for putting in the extra work and helping keep the day moving.

Havoc certainly made good use of him too, securing third place with a massive 102 points. ☣️💪

Then we had Wayne from Bay City Gelball Arena, who didn’t simply turn up to help…

He arrived like a complete expansion pack. 😂

Wayne jumped straight into the referee team, plus brought an entire crew of kids who formed a team to compete annnnnd arrived with a suitcase full of exciting giveaways.

A massive thank you, mate.

Your support, generosity and willingness to get involved were genuinely appreciated. 🙌

That additional team was the Bay City Ballers, made up of Jyva, Akka, Tyler and Kyzer.

These young players arrived at an unfamiliar competition, used equipment borrowed from other people and still managed to finish fourth overall with 89 points.

That is an outstanding effort from a team of kids entering unfamiliar territory.

They listened, adapted, competed hard and showed everyone exactly what young gelballers are capable of. 👏🔥

Then there was Gelman, who once again took control of the scoring for me.

Although calling him a visitor is becoming a bit of a stretch.

At this rate, he is basically part of the furniture.

We may need to put his name on a chair. 😂

✈️ A FAREWELL ROUND FOR MATT
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Our usual scorekeeper, Matt, stepped away from the laptop and joined the Crimson Raiders for the day.

This was an especially important round because it will be the last competition we get to share with him for a while.

Matt has officially been accepted into the Royal Australian Air Force, which is an incredible achievement and something he should be extremely proud of. ✈️🇦🇺

Round Five became a bit of a farewell game for him—and apparently, he planned on leaving with the championship card in his pocket!

The Crimson Raiders claimed first place with 113 points.

Thank you for everything you have done behind the scoring desk, and best of luck with this massive next chapter.

🤝 TRUSTED HANDS

On a personal note, having both Wayne and Gelman there made this one of the most comfortable competitions I have ever run.

Both of these men have previously proven themselves to be reliable and capable second-in-command figures for me at national events.

Knowing they were both beside me meant that, should I have needed to leave the field for any reason, the competition would still have been in extremely capable hands. So I totally took advantage of that and kicked my feet up for half the day.

That level of trust is incredibly reassuring as an event organiser.

I cannot thank either of them enough for the support they have given me over the years.

Congratulations to the Crimson Raiders, 🏆

Only four points separated first and second.

Havoc Company broke through the 100-point barrier.

The visiting Bay City youngsters stormed into fourth place.

Placeholder and Ronin both finished on 58 points, with Placeholder’s two Speedies separating the tied totals.

It was another cracking day of competition, teamwork, laughs and people stepping up wherever they were needed.

❤️ MORE THAN JUST A COMPETITION
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The time surrounding this competition also reminded me that this community means far more than what happens on the field.

The weekend before Round Five, Gelman joined Zen and me for a Pokémon Trading Card Day and helped us throughout the event. 🃏⚡

Sadly, the following day—on the Sunday before the competition—my little dog Sam passed away.

The week between the Pokémon day and Round Five was an incredibly difficult one for me.

Having Gelman staying with me during that time proved to be a genuine blessing.

Having a close friend nearby—someone who could offer support, company and simply be there when I needed it—was invaluable.
He kept me focused and distracted at the same time, taking care of a bunch of things for me before I'd even thought about it.

Mate, your support throughout one of the hardest weeks I have experienced meant more to me than I can properly put into words.

It was deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten.

🎱 THE AFTER-HOURS CHAMPIONSHIP
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

After Round Five wrapped up, a group of us met again at Chalker’s Pool Hall later that night.

We enjoyed some friendly games of pool and a few “refreshing beverages”…

The kind of refreshing beverages that come in bottles, contain absolutely no electrolytes and somehow convince everyone they are much better at pool than they actually are. 🎱🍻😂

Then on Sunday, Gelman, Liam, Mick, Chloe, Lachlan and I met up with the Bay City crew at the Pooraka go-karts for a Grand Prix championship. 🏎️🏁

Now, I don’t want to brag.

As the referee, I very rarely get the opportunity to compete in anything myself, so naturally I intended to handle the result with humility, dignity and quiet professionalism.

Unfortunately, all three of those things disappeared somewhere around the first corner.

I won the Grand Prix. 🏆😂

Therefore, I will be taking this extremely rare opportunity to mention it repeatedly, exaggerate its historical importance and behave as though I have just secured a Formula One contract.

Please respect the champion during this difficult period of overwhelming success. 😎🏁

Later that evening, we caught up with the Bay City crew again for another round of those highly refreshing, definitely-not-alcoholic adult hydration products.

We played Cards Against Humanity, where maturity, dignity and appropriate conversation were immediately abandoned. 🍻🃏😂

Even away from the field, it was brilliant having everyone here and getting to spend genuine time together.

The pew pew game may be what originally brings us together, but the friendships, support and memories built around it are what make this community truly special.

🚨 BFW Speed Edition — May Competition Wrap-Up 🚨

Alright, first things first — yes, I missed posting last month’s scores.

Not because I forgot.
Not because I rage-quit the spreadsheet.
But because I hit a bit of a creative wall trying to find a better way to display everything properly.

After a bit of tinkering, swearing, redesigning, deleting, redoing, questioning my life choices, and then doing it all again… I’ve finally come up with a new way to show each team’s results individually.

Introducing the BFW mugshot scorecards. 📸

Each team’s mugshot shows:

🔢 The big number on the name card = that team’s total points for the month
🟩 Green scratch marks = how many Speedy Bonuses that team earned
🟥 Red scratch marks = how many penalties that team received

So now the monthly results have a bit more personality… and apparently a criminal record. Seems fitting. 😂

It was another great day out at Battle for Waterloo, as always. The competition is getting seriously tight now too — there’s only 13 points between 7th place and 3rd place, which is absolutely wild. One good round, one Speedy Bonus, or one messy penalty day could shake the whole thing up.

A huge congratulations to Troy, who took out the All-Star Award for the day. Well earned.

I also awarded a second All-Star Award to Jess from UTG, who played every single game all day while wearing a moon boot wrapped in glad wrap. That is genuinely one of the most ridiculous and impressive efforts we’ve seen. Absolute warrior behaviour. Moon boot mobility meta confirmed. 🫡

The Standout Ref Award was also chaos in the best possible way. Out of 23 votes, it ended in a three-way tie between Pablo, Mick, and Jonesy, all receiving 7 votes each.

And the remaining 2 votes?
They went to refs who weren’t even there on the day. 😂
That’s either loyalty, confusion, or elite-level ghost reffing.

It was also awesome to see some old faces back out there again. A special shoutout to Corey, who gave up his day to come out and help. For that, he received an extra Outstanding Ref Award.

Also, hopefully that helps entice him to come back again.
