Yesterday, we did well to restrict the opposition under 200 on what was an extremely flat wicket. After the way they started 68/0 in 5 overs, a total of 250 looked very much on the cards, so full credit to our bowlers for an outstanding effort.

With our strong batting line-up, we were confident of chasing the target comfortably. Unfortunately, our top and middle order collapsed, leaving us staring at defeat. At one stage, the required run rate had climbed to over 14.8 runs per over, and the game looked all but over.

That’s when Shahbaz Anjum produced something truly special. His unbeaten 94* with 8 sixes almost pulled off an unbelievable victory. He fought till the very end, but sadly, he didn’t get the support from the other end, and the match ended in a tie.

Despite that, his heroic innings was enough to help us secure our place in the quarter-finals.
