A rare all-rounder who opens the batting, opens the bowling, and somehow still ends up as the outstanding wicketkeeper. We’re just waiting for the day you start umpiring your own match too!

Wishing you good health, plenty of runs, fewer dropped catches (if possible!), and another year of making everyone laugh.

Ceylon Legends | A Night to Remember at Ranil's Place

Last Saturday proved once again what Ceylon Legends is truly about, and it is not just cricket.

Legend Ranil opened his home to the Legends family for a drinks and dinner evening, and the timing could not have been more perfect. Earlier that morning, Legends had faced Legends Masters in the ongoing tournament and came out on top. So what better way to end a winning day than gathering at Ranil's place for a proper Legends evening.

And what an evening it was.

The night had everything. Banter. Laughter. Music. A drinks collection that needed no introduction. Some serious conversations tucked in between. And to top it all off, a traditional Sri Lankan dinner spread that was nothing short of outstanding, all beautifully prepared by the legendary Nilusha herself.

Nobody noticed the time passing. Some Legends were still loading their plates well past 2am, while a few others were deep into a carrom session with the kids. That is just how Legends roll.

Ranil's music setup was next level too. Plug and play, pour and drink. Simple as that. What followed was a full-blown concert nobody planned for. Every Legend found their inner performer, and honestly, some of the acts were so good that your writer started wondering whether these guys should reconsider their Saturday morning commitments and just focus on performing instead. We all know how the cricket goes anyway.

The food deserved a standing ovation, and Nilusha's spread was genuinely something special. But here is the honest truth. By the time dinner was served, a good number of Legends were already in a zone where their relationship with food became purely accidental. Some Legends discovered the existence of certain curries while washing their hands on the way out.

Come morning, most Legends eventually found their way home. Except one. He had apparently secured a full board stay package at Ranil's residence. We will not be naming him.

A big thank you to Ranil De Silva , Nilusha and the little ones for an absolutely legendary evening. The food, the drinks, the music, the warmth of your home and the love you showed every single Legend that night was something we will not forget for a long time. You did not just host a party. You gave us a memory.

By profession a banker (handling money calmly), but on the field? Absolute chaos manager – rugby, cricket, badminton… basically if there’s a sport, he’s already played it and probably beaten you at it

Always smiling, always positive – whether he’s scoring runs, tackling giants twice his size, or just spreading good vibes off the field. Proof that good things come in small packages… and sometimes those packages come with unlimited energy and zero off switch!

Have a fantastic birthday legend – keep smiling, keep playing, and please take a day off from winning everything!

Our very own Executive Chef by profession… and part-time destroyer of bowling attacks on weekends! A man who supports the community like a true legend, cooks like a magician, and somehow still finds energy to drive 100+ km just to play cricket… and then drive back like it’s a casual grocery run.

His hands are so gifted in the kitchen, even the cricket ball feels jealous—because it only gets beaten, while we get five-star meals!

A great cricketer, an outstanding human being, and proof that you can serve both runs and dishes at world-class level.

Have a fantastic birthday, Chef! May your recipes stay secret, your cover drives stay perfect, and your fuel tank always stay full!

Today we celebrate the one and only Ranil de Silva hitting the 50+ club — still going strong like a test match on Day 5 😄

A true go-getter from Kingswood College, Kandy — a man whose knowledge in audit and cricket is miles higher than his official height of 5 feet 6… some say even his shadow looks taller during presentations!

A great musician, a passionate singer (sometimes by choice, sometimes by force ), and above all, a solid friend. Not everyone might enjoy his “meeting version,” but once you really get to know him — completely different personality… like switching from audit mode to after-party mode!

On the cricket field, one thing is guaranteed — Ranil will always wear his pads… whether he’s batting, fielding, or just supervising the game from mid-off! Safety first, performance later

Legends vs Legends – A Match for the Ages (and Appetites )

What was promised as a friendly game quickly turned into a “no-mercy, last-ball-heart-attack” kind of showdown. Truly, legends don’t do casual.

In a nail-biting finish, Masters sneaked past Legends by just 2 wickets — proving once again that experience may come with age… but so does dramatic flair.

Man of the Match went to Dinesh De Silva, who didn’t just receive the trophy — he practically ran away with it like it was the last piece of cake at breakfast.

😂 Biggest surprise of the day? None other than Samantha Lakpriya:

Took a blinder of a catch that defied physics, logic, and probably his own expectations.

Then followed it up with an over that historians will remember as “The 7-Wide Special” — a true rollercoaster of emotions in 6… well… more than 6 balls.

That catch? Absolutely superb. Beat all odds.
That over? Let’s just say… the ball explored more of the field than the players did.

Biggest discipline of the day:
Not bowling. Not batting.
BREAKFAST.

And what a spread it was:

Samantha Lakpriya, redeeming himself in style, fired up his signature BBQ (wide balls not included).

Chef Prasad followed with a chicken curry and wil p curry that had players reconsidering their fitness goals.

And just when things couldn’t get better, Tyrone Fernando walked in like a true hero with traditional kiribath — sealing the match as a culinary victory.

Final thoughts:
The Legends delivered a fantastic game, but an even more outstanding breakfast — priorities clearly in the right place.
